About Community FORCE

Mission

Our mission is to bridge the gap between families, resources and the community. In order to improve the lives of children in Eastern Oregon living with disabilities, we aim to sustain a network of families who can share resources and ideas as well as their diverse backgrounds with others. This will empower caregivers to advocate for their child and will also cultivate connections based on diversity and inclusion. Community FORCE will accomplish this mission by supporting families and individuals whose lives are impacted by disability.

We believe and advocate for the following;
  • Disability is one of many types of human diversity.
  • Peer support is sustainable, empowers families and changes lives.
  • Families with high expectations for their children raise adults with high expectations.
  • All families have strengths and valuable experiences that contribute to their community.
  • Welcoming communities strengthen and support all families.
  • The role of service systems is to complement the support that exists in community.
  • Access to effective supports and services is a fundamental right of all families across Oregon.

Vision

We envision a community in which all children are included and considered, where all families feel welcome and heard, and where work is continually happening to remove barriers for those with diverse abilities.
