Karla Macy

Program Coordinator
Picture
Karla has lived in Baker City, OR with her husband since 2010. She has two sons, one of whom was born with a birth defect which lead to a physical disability. Due to her son’s condition, her family regularly travels over 300 miles to Portland, OR for medical specialists, surgeries and follow up care. While traveling such a distance for medical care places a burden on the family, it has also exposed Karla to many resources in the Portland area (and beyond) which are available to children throughout the state. She has developed a passion for connecting a family with a resource that may have not otherwise crossed paths.

Karla brings to Community FORCE over a decade of special education teaching experience. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Sciences with a minor in Early Childhood Development and Education, as well as a Master of Arts degree in Teaching. Karla is also a member the Baker City Parks Advisory Board.

When she has time to herself, Karla enjoys reading and baking. Camping and fishing are among favorite family activities. She enjoys volunteering in her son’s classroom and regularly attends community events with her family.
